Auditions! for “12 Incompetent Jurors”

The case is open and shut – even the judge says so. There is even a video of the thief making off with the cats! That’s no obstacle, though, to the “12 Incompetent Jurors” who will be coming to the ABOB stage April 21-23 and 28-30.

Director Clay Nielsen has announced auditions for the ridiculous comedy by Ian McWethy will be March 5 and 6 from 6-8 p.m. each evening. Cast is 12 actors of flexible ages and genders.
The play is a parody of the classic drama “12 Angry Men” in which a lone juror stands against the wishes of his fellow jurors and eventually persuades them to his point of view. In the ABOB production, a wannabe lawyer convinces his quirky fellow jurors the obvious and indisputable facts of the case are not what they appear.

Roles include:
•Foreman – Energetic, eager to share kooky characters she learned at improv classes.
•Juror 2 – Anxious, prone to anxiety attacks.
•Juror 3 – Sensible, moral woman.
*Juror 4 – Bratty influencer whose specialty is opening boxes.
*Jurors 5, 6 – A bickering couple who really love each other.
Juror 7 – Sweet, unemployed and lives with grandmother. Very taken with prosecutor.
Juror 8 – Wannabe lawyer…persuasive and self righteous.
Juror 9 – Creepy guy who eats fries and keeps to himself.
Juror 10 – Angry at everyone.
Juror 11 – A PR hack…a fast talker with no brain to back it up.
Juror 12 – Immigrant from eastern Europe…has issues understanding and communicating.

Each of the characters are very important to the craziness of the show, and actors must be willing to go far overboard in their characterizations to help the production reach its potential.
