Announcing the ABOB 2023 season!
Arlene’s Broadway On Buffalo announced its full 2023 season at the BOBbies Awards retrospective, held on January 21, 2023. It’s a full one – including seven ABOB-produced shows plus the Conneaut Arts Center’s May Ballet Recital. The season includes four plays, two musicals and our annual production of original one-act plays. The shows are, in order:
•”A Little Murder Never Hurt Anybody.” March 3-5, 10-12. After a husband makes killing his wife his new year’s resolution, everyone starts dying except the wife, and a clueless detective is brought in to find out why.
•”12 Incompetent Jurors.” April 21-23, 28-30. The case is open and shut – even the judge says so – so how can these jurors possibly mess it up? You’ll have to watch and see!
•”CAC Dance Show.” May 12-14, 19-21. Outstanding dance from the Conneaut Arts Center.
•”The Fantastiks.” June 23-25, 30 and July 1-2. Longtime neighbors have a plan to get their children to marry…forbid them to see one another. The world’s longest-running musical, it includes outstanding melodies, including “Try To Remember.”
•”Fight Nice.” August 25-27. Original drama by Douglas Anderson. Modern dysfunctional family learns to stick together when it really matters.
•”Prism 2 – An Evening of Original One-Acts.” September 8-10. A collection of brand new original short plays based on a writing prompt.
•”Jekyll Hydes Again.” Oct. 20-22, 27-29. Musical by comedy master Jack Sharkey. Dr. Jekyll’s son stumbles upon dad’s formula and a hilarious farce ensues.
•”It Happened One Christmas.” Dec. 8-10, 15-17.Original play by Clay Nielsen. Desperate Mary plans to leave her baby at the Mega Gas convenience store, but is stranded by a blizzard. An exhibition bowling team, the store owner and a crazy biker help put a new spin on the classic Christmas story.
